It's been three months since Dr. Michael Duffy joined the Connected Health team, and we thought it was the perfect time to check in with him! From getting to know patients on a deeper level to finding new joy in medicine, Dr. Duffy shares his thoughts on his experience so far.
Dr. Duffy: I'm very happy that I signed on with Connected Health. The transition was smooth, and I feel like I've really found my place here.
Dr. Duffy: I love being able to practice medicine the way I believe it should be practiced, with the patient's best interest first. Previously, there were situations where my hands were tied by insurance companies; medications or tests that would benefit my patients were denied or not approved. That was always frustrating because I knew what my patients needed, but I wasn't always able to provide it due to those restrictions.
Another major difference is the access to care for patients. They can expect their healthcare provider to answer any questions they may have directly, typically within the hour. This is unheard of in other practices.
It's also very nice to have colleagues that I can discuss cases with. The office staff is fantastic. From scheduling to rooming patients to coordinating care, it's nice to know that I can trust in them to get the job done.
Dr. Duffy: I really appreciate the relationships I'm able to build with my patients. Because I have more time with them, I can listen to their concerns, understand their health goals, and work with them to create a plan that actually fits their life. It's rewarding to see how engaged they are in their own care when they have that kind of support.
Dr. Duffy: My quality of life has improved tremendously. I no longer feel the burnout that comes with practicing traditional medicine. I'm not bringing work home with me, and I have more time for my family. My wife has noticed a change as well; she said that I actually look happy leaving for work in the morning now. That says a lot.
Dr. Duffy: I want patients to know that we're here for them. Their well-being is our priority, and we will always provide the best care possible with compassion and kindness.
