Getting My Care Back on Track with Connected Health

Building a company from the ground up really is a marathon, not a sprint, and somewhere along the way, I realized I’d been so focused on everything else that I hadn’t checked in on my own “engine” in a while.
I wasn’t dealing with a major issue, but I knew I could be doing a better job investing in my own health and getting a clear picture of where I stood physically. That’s what led me to join Connected Health as a patient and take a more intentional approach to my care.
I had known the team professionally, but experiencing it firsthand was different. The level of attention, coordination, and proactive planning stood out immediately.
A huge shoutout to Dr. Michael Duffy, my new personal physician. During my physical, Dr. Duffy was thorough and proactive. We discussed a near-term goal: running the Pittsburgh Marathon Relay in May. I also brought up foot pain I’d been living with for years, and he immediately had a plan to get me back on track, including coordinating a referral to a highly regarded podiatrist that Connected Health works closely with.
Here’s where I had my lightbulb moment: being so used to the traditional healthcare system, I called the podiatrist's office to make the appointment myself. The receptionist was surprised — she said she’d never spoken directly with a patient of Connected Health because "their medical team handles the scheduling and coordination". I laughed and thought, " Oh yeah, I don’t have to do this myself anymore!" That’s when it really hit me. This is how healthcare should feel: seamless, proactive, and coordinated.
Within days, my care was already moving forward. My appointments were scheduled, my treatment plan was in motion, and I had my PCP and specialists working together. I could focus on my recovery and my goals, not administrative tasks or navigating the system.
Over the next few weeks, I’ll be working with my personal trainer, physical therapist, and nutritionist at Connected Health to take actionable steps on my care plan while continuing therapies during training and recovery. Having this team in my corner allows me to prepare for the marathon, manage my health, and improve my overall quality of life, all without the usual stress of coordinating care myself, so I can stay focused on continuing to grow my business and show up fully in the areas that matter most.
Investing in yourself, or as an employer, investing in your people through direct care, can truly change the experience and trajectory of your health. With Dr. Duffy and the Connected Health team guiding me, I’m confident I’ll not only reach my marathon goals but do so with the support and proactive approach I’ve been missing for years.
